A. General Franchise Laws
1. California AB 676
a. As of September 1, 2022, the legislation passed the legislature, was presented to the governor, and is available for signing.
b. Relates to the California Franchise Relations Act, which sets forth certain requirements related to the termination, nonrenewal, and transfer of franchises between a franchisor, subfranchisor, and franchisee, as those terms are defined. Specifies that any provision of a franchise agreement requiring the franchisee to waive specified provisions of law are contrary to public policy and are void and unenforceable.
